Mental health advocacy for parents
When parents take care of themselves, they take care of their whole family.
What
HEARD is a 100% volunteer-driven, non-profit organization advocating for better access, decreased stigma, increased awareness, and education for parental mental health.
How
HEARD is on a mission to bolster parental well-being by supporting mental health resources and community programs. We aim to provide community support, resources for those in need, and mental health advocacy for parents.
Access to mental health providers remains a pressing issue due to various barriers including:
Inadequate health insurance coverage
Rising out-of-pocket expenses
Limited facilities tailored to specific needs
Difficulty finding the right therapist or doctor
A stigma surrounding mental health
Inconsistent standards of care
HEARD’s approach isn't about reinventing the wheel but leveraging the breadth of distinguished mental health resources and the impactful work of dedicated and skilled professionals transforming lives nationwide.
HEARD recognizes the mental load that parents carry. We aim to support community through health and wellness programs and to help parents, who have parental responsibilities, in crisis, in response to trauma or stress, and in times of grief and loss.
HEARD’s goal is to donate to the most impactful causes, related to parental mental health, throughout the country by raising funds through the generosity of our supporters and community events. For more information on the events we host, you can visit our events page.
HEARD’s mission is to increase awareness, funding, and availability of resources for parental mental health and well-being, but we are not a substitute for direct care. For direct support, contact the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-TLC-MAMA or visit Postpartum Support International (PSI). In the event of a crisis, you can also text HOME to 741741 from anywhere in the US.
