Your Story Matters

The Heard Project

Behind every experience with perinatal mental health disorders is a real person, a real family, and a story that deserves to be heard.

At the Heard Foundation, we believe that sharing our stories can create connection, reduce stigma, and remind others that they are not alone.

The Heard Project aims to honor the many faces and experiences of PMADs — including postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, postpartum psychosis, OCD, trauma, grief, and other maternal mental health challenges. Some stories may be hopeful. Some may still be unfolding. All are welcome here.

Whether you are a mother, partner, family member, survivor, clinician, or someone who has loved and supported a person through this journey, your voice matters.

You may choose to:

  • Share your story publicly or anonymously

  • Include your first name, initials, or no identifying information at all

  • Submit a photo of yourself, your family, artwork, or an image that feels meaningful to your experience

  • Write a few sentences or a longer reflection

There is no “right” way to tell your story.

Our goal is to help make the invisible visible, and the silence heard — to create space for honest conversations around maternal mental health and remind others that they are not alone. Through these shared experiences, we hope to foster connection, reduce shame, and help others feel seen, understood, and supported.
